Khayachara waterfall
Undoubtedly, the largest spring in Bangladesh is 'Khayachara' in terms of size, shape and structure. This waterfall has a total of 8 main steps (9 according to some) and many isolated steps, which have not been seen in any other waterfall in Bangladesh yet. That is why ‘Khayachara’ can be called the fountain queen of Bangladesh.
Location: Khayachhara Jharna is located 4.2 km east of Dhaka-Chittagong Highway on the north side of Baratakia Bazar in Khayachhara Union of Mirsarai Upazila in Chittagong. 1 km of the road can be reached by car and the rest of the way on foot. In 2010, the government declared 2933.61 hectares of hills from Bariadhala block to Baratakia block as a national park and Khayachara Jharna became a national park.
Description: The main feature of Khayachara is that it does not come down directly from the hill like other springs. The fountain has a total of 8 steps (according to some 9 steps). Three steps can be easily seen from the bottom, but if you want to see the top four steps, you have to climb the steep hill on the left side quite a bit up.
Her beauty will make you forget all your troubles after rising to the top. If you go up, you will see one more step. If you walk a little on the left side of it, you will see the other three steps. If this doesn't fill your mind, then go up the hill along these three steps, there is a wide view of the surrounding mountains and jungle, but for a while you will forget about your hard work and the thought of going back down safely. The road to the waterfall is very captivating. When you cross the road and start walking, you will be fascinated by the view from all sides. After crossing the high and low roads for a while, you will come to a hilly path. Then your real adventure will start. You have to go along the Jhiri path. Sometimes when you walk on a rock in knee-deep water, that water will sometimes rise above your waist and up to your chest. After walking for about an hour and a half, you will reach the fountain. Then when you get to see Khayachara, there will be no other way but to be overwhelmed with wonder.
It is not possible for anyone to control the temptation to take a bath in the water of this fountain. So get down to the cold spring water without delay. There is no fear of drowning as the water is too much. Relatively deep from left to right of the fountain.
How to get there: Get on the Chittagong-bound bus from any bus counter in Dhaka. On the way, you will cross Mirersarai in Chittagong on Dhaka-Chittagong Road and get off in front of Khayachara Ideal School before Bartakia Bazar. If there is no traffic jam on the way, you can reach Mirersarai in 4/5 hours. If you go to Khayachara Ideal School in Bara Takiya Bazar and ask the locals, they will tell you which way to go. If you take the Dhaka-Chittagong road and walk ten minutes along the village road to the east, you will find the railway line on the way. If you wish, you can go from Dhaka Chittagong Road to Jhiri with CNG (it will cost 60-70 rupees). The road to the waterfall is the same, and on the way you will meet many more adventurers, so there is no fear of losing the way. You can also go down to Sitakunda or Mirsarai and bring CNG from there to Jhiri.
After walking for about an hour and a half along the hilly path through the forest, you will see the waterfall. You can take it with you, but on the way to the fountain you will find at least three places in the local hotel, if you want you can eat from there. Food prices will be relatively cheap.
Accommodation: There is no hotel in Baratakia market. But you can go up to the chairman's bungalow if you want. You can also stay with the locals by arranging for them to stay at home. In Mirersarai or Sitakunda you will find several local hotels to stay. You will also find many restaurants to eat at Mirersarai or Sitakunda.
Caution: Remember not to throw away unused food, packets of chips, cigarette filters, water bottles and other rubbish. Bring these bullets with you and come out and throw them somewhere. Keep salt or rose with you to get rid of leech. If you are bitten by a leech, do not pull it out by hand, it will only work if you sprinkle salt / rose.
The road to the fountain is quite inaccessible and the rocky places can be slippery. So be careful and walk the path. If there is a serious accident, it will be very difficult to cross the inaccessible road and come back. If you do not have the experience to climb the mountain, it is better not to try to climb.
